Anvils are a donation item you can purchase using signet tokens once you’ve acquired the requisite donation status, other wise signified as signet rings. These signet rings come in 5 different colors indicating your donation level, Read help signet on more information about those and what donation perks you get there in for those levels.
The copper signet ring allows you to purchase a basic armor anvil that allows you to rename, and redesign your chosen armor piece. For instance, You can turn a set of “gloves” into a set of “Tooled leather gardening gloves”.
This is done by sacrificing your armor piece, such as your “gloves” to the anvil, allowing it to record its base armor value properties, as to give your new armor piece the same armor protection value as the one you just sacrificed to the anvil. Once this is done You will be able to go through following the prompts on the anvil you have purchased, and insert your desired parameters for your new set of gloves.
An example is as follows:
>Name: Tooled leather gardening gloves
>Alias1: gloves
>Alias2: Tooled leather gardening gloves
>Color: brown
>Description: Well tailored by an expert craftsman, these gardening gloves are a deep earthy brown hue and are made from a sturdy thick leather that protects from the occasional arrant thorn or bee sting.
The brass anvil used for weapons works the exact same way as the
copper armor anvil does but only for redesigning your chosen weapon.
When you reach the status of the silver signet ring this allows you
access to the silver armor anvil, which adds a special power to the
armor you are creating. What makes the silver and gold anvils more
desirable not only for their special ability that gets added to your
armor piece, but because you are able to customize the message for
your special on the item. It is usually requested by fellow players
to make these power messages one to two lines max, other wise it
can become spammy in the heat of battle. Now this is not to say it
is required, it is your armor piece, and you can design it how ever
lengthy you desire, as long as it stays within the rules and guidelines
of the genre, game and anvil you are working with. Given that freedom,
do make a note that anvils have their own coded set amount of lines
of text that it will accept before it either cuts the message off,
or doesn’t allow you to input it into the anvil, with that in mind,
they are meant to allow a character to have their own flare and
personality to their gear, and adds a layer of roleplay to their
armor set that allows them to set themselves apart from the usual
variety of gear that can be found through the realm. Do keep under
consideration this does not mean that the anvil armor is more powerful
than the gear found adventuring, it only means that you are able
to have tailored gear to your vanity style. These all have special
abilities that are different than your average gear item, but is
sometimes trumped by a more rarer item in the game, leaving the player
utilizing the anvil item at a slight disadvantage. These are things
you can discover for yourself as you play Ateraan and find all the
different ways you can create your panoply of armor.
When thinking about what design you want for your anvil, keep it
within the rules and guidelines of the anvil and do not create
something that would not be some what practical. You can not have
a chainmail of pink sparkles and gnomish cookie dough, or a sword
of instant kill crafted from marshmallows.
